Camp Eagle has Arrived by Janet Buchanan | February 7, 2024 11:25 PM
We arrived in Tulsa just a little after 9 PM and were greeted by our PPM team and the smell of freshly baked cookies. After making our lunches, bringing in our luggage, and having a brief orientation we all settled down for the night.
Tulsa Food Bankby Janet Buchanan | February 10, 2024 9:34 AM
The Tulsa Food Bank is an awesome facility where they distribute the food to the food pantries throughout the eastern part of Tulsa. We were able to box 6,930 pounds of food during our time we served there.
The Boxing Crewby Janet Buchanan | February 10, 2024 9:37 AM
We had pallets of food that was to be put in boxes ready to distribute to the community.
Weight and Taping Crewby Janet Buchanan | February 10, 2024 9:41 AM
Here we weighed the boxes-not too heavy, so people could carry them home. Then the taping crew did their job!
Art to Stacking Boxesby Janet Buchanan | February 10, 2024 9:45 AM
Believe it or not stacking boxes on a pallet is like putting a rubic's cube together. Each row was laid in a different pattern.
Standpipe Hillby Janet Buchanan | February 10, 2024 10:01 AM
We were enlightened by the past history of the Greenwood massacre at Black Wall Street. Here at Standpipe Hill we prayed over the city and the ministry God has before us.
Night Lights Under the Bridgeby Janet Buchanan | February 10, 2024 10:20 AM
Words cannot describe this ministry that is in its tenth year of existence! First we met under a bridge in Tulsa where a large houseless community gathers every Thursday night to mingle with their friends and meet new ones wanting to share the good news of the gospel as well as meet some of their needs. Some of us helped serve a meal, distribute clothes, give out books for children as well as adults, and some who washed the feet of any one who asked. The rest of us were hostesses, meeting people, helping provide assistance, and praying with them. There were 200+ that attended that night. God is a good good God!
Shoulder 2 Shoulder Ministriesby Janet Buchanan | February 10, 2024 10:31 AM
“
Then I will purify the lips of the people, that all of them may call on the name of the Lord and serve him shoulder to shoulder.”Zephaniah 3:9 NIV
This is an awesome ministry where the gospel is taken out into the community wherever God leads.
Ministry Training by Janet Buchanan | February 10, 2024 10:48 AM
Before we went out on our “Grill Walk” we were encouraged to share our story as we went out for street ministry. Not just to give out hamburgers but to engage in conversation with people and ask if we could pray for their needs.
Grill Walkby Janet Buchanan | February 10, 2024 10:52 AM
What a simple concept but what a powerful ministry. When we returned home, we had so many unique encounters with the community and were able to spend time praying with many of them.
Penney Park Ministryby Janet Buchanan | February 10, 2024 10:56 AM
The Shoulder 2 Shoulder ministry takes off to the park at night where we set up a food and clothing distribution along with some great Christian music sung by our team as well as other passionate people serving God “shoulder to shoulder”. We were given the privilege of praying with people from the community as well as seeing how God can change the heart of a man who wanted to shut down this ministry tonight.
Singing for Jesusby Janet Buchanan | February 10, 2024 11:10 AM
We were given the opportunity to share our God given talent to the community. Singing praises to the Lord.
The Zoneby Janet Buchanan | February 10, 2024 11:17 AM
The Zone is an after school ministry for elementary students in the community. Tonight was the big kickoff for the children’s ministry at Zion Community Church. (Our host Church) We served hotdogs and popcorn as they watched a family night movie. The children were surprised to be greeted by the wrestlers who will be wrestling against hunger this weekend at Zion Community Church.
Behind the Scenesby Janet Buchanan | February 10, 2024 11:24 AM
Today we are working behind the scenes for Shoulder 2 Shoulder in what is known as “the basement”. Our team is helping to sort clothes to be distributed out to the community, bagging groceries, and cleaning up the kitchen area. Who knows what God has in store for these things. But one thing we do know is God has a plan to bless others.
Whimpy’s Sandwich Shopby Janet Buchanan | February 10, 2024 4:28 PM
When God is in charge there is no telling where he will show up! This afternoon we hung out with the Shoulder 2 Shoulder ministry at Whimpy’s Sandwich Shop distributing food, clothing, and a coupon for a free rib sandwich at Whimpy’s. (Donated by the manager at Whimpy’s) But what amazed us the most was people coming and asking for prayer from the mission team.
Indian Tacos with Pastor Larryby Janet Buchanan | February 10, 2024 10:44 PM
Last years team served with Pastor Larry and the Indian Churches. He wanted to meet us and share a traditional Indian meal with our group. He and his wife Nancy came and we learned that in their culture food is like a medicine. Each meal that is prepared is prayed over so if you need healing or you are suffering it is medicine for your body and soul. We were truly blessed to know that what we ate had been prayed over for our lives.
Wrestling Witnessby Janet Buchanan | February 10, 2024 11:13 PM
God seems to be in the business of reaching all people even those who enjoy the W. A. H. Wrestling team. In the gym at Zion Community Church we were surprised to see a wrestling ring in the center of it. Later we would find out we would be helping serve food and give out bread at the end of the matches. At the beginning our national anthem was played and a prayer was voiced. Some of our team members had never experienced such a sport and decided to join in on the fun!
